Combine cocoa powder and baking soda and add hot water to dissolve. Add the melted chocolate to the cocoa powder mixture then stir in the powdered sugar, salt, and potato. Instructions to make Chocolate donuts:
- For doughnut dough–
- Firstly, in a large mixing bowl add warm milk.
- To that add 1 tsp of sugar. sugar helps to activate yeast.
- Also add 1 tsp of dry yeast and give a quick mix.
- Allow it to rest for 5 minutes, or till the yeast activates and turns frothy.,
- Now add maida, baking powder, butter and salt. combine and crumble well.
- Combine and knead to smooth and soft dough adding water as required. Knead the dough for 5 minutes.
- Knead till the dough is soft, smooth and elastic. and also bounces back when pressed. if not, knead another 5 minutes.
- Tuck the dough and grease with oil.
- Grease, cover and rest for 1-2 hours.
- Dough has raised and doubled in size indicating well fermented.
- Punch the dough with fist to release down the air and knead slightly.
- Roll slightly thick using rolling pin.
- Now with the help of donut cutter, cut round.
- Now with the help of donut cutter or cut round shape.
- Also to make a hole in centre use bottle cap.
- Deep fry in medium hot oil or bake in preheated oven at 180 degree celsius for 15 minutes.
- Stir occasionally keeping the flame on medium.
- Fry till the donuts turn golden brown. drain off over kitchen towel to absorb excess oil.
- For chocolate glaze
- Firstly, mix powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla extract and milk.
- Stir well till the mixture forms smooth and creamy.
- Now dip the prepared doughnuts into the chocolate mixture and place glaze-side up.
- Finally, serve dounuts sprinkled with coconut.
Donuts are one of my favorite desserts. I love the fun shape of donuts and the colorful sprinkles or creamy glaze that covers the top. For the donuts, you will need Unsalted butter, Granulated sugar, Golden brown sugar, an Egg, Vanilla extract, Sour cream, All-purpose flour, Cocoa powder, Baking powder, Baking soda, Cornstarch, and Salt. And for the glaze, you will use Semisweet chocolate chips, Heavy cream, and Unsalted butter. You will also need Corn oil for frying.
